Refilwe, a Tswana word, means “Gift”. The Refilwe Community Project was formed in 1991 by Jean Stewart and Yvonne Jaques as a Christian Based Community Development initiative to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ amongst poor people in the Lanseria area. Jean is a professional nurse and a health care clinic was one of the first projects they had started in order to help meet the needs of the poor people they had met. Today Refilwe Community Project is a multi focused registered Non Profit and Public Benefit Organization serving the communities of Lanseria north of Johannesburg in the following areas:
